Remember Cast Discusses Ending
I’m sure by now, most people have heard about the twist ending in ‘Remember Me’ dealing with the events of 9/11.
MTV.com talked with the cast about how they felt about the ending
Robert Pattinson: “When I first read the script, it seemed so much a part of it. As soon as I read it, I felt immediately connected to it. If it was edited down in any way, I don’t think it would be the same thing. I always feel there’s some kind of power to the script. I wanted to keep that in the movie.”
Emilie de Ravin: “For me, it was handled so beautifully, but it was also just such a surprise to me the first time I read it. I think I’ve cried every time I read this script and seen this film — so I might have to walk out when we’re watching it! But it’s such an important part of history and I think everyone’s going to have a completely different opinion because everyone has a different experience, whether they were involved or know somebody involved. Everyone remembers exactly where they were when they heard about it.”
Pierce Brosnan: “Will Fetters, the writer — this young man really drew up a beautiful story about this significant, emotional time in all our history and all our life, one which the generations will reverberate from. That bright blue morning of 9/11 is indelibly etched in our hearts. So this young writer took a love story and painted the story up against the backdrop of 9/11. The movie is a simple movie, but it makes you appreciate the moment of life and time.
Chris Cooper: “I had some concern about the portion of this film that is a bit of a surprise and I hoped that it would be handled tastefully — as tastefully as it could be. I must say after I saw it, I don’t know how you could handle it anymore tastefully but still get the idea across of the loss. I think the strongest thing in the film is the idea of loss. My character and my daughter [de Ravin], early in the film we’ve encountered heavy loss and we learn more about Robert Pattinson and what is going on with his family and what they have lost. I just think it’s a theme throughout.”

Remember Me – Tissues Required
This afternoon I walked into a showing of ‘Remember Me’ already knowing how it was going to end (thanks comment section on EW.com for that).
However, knowing the ending and then feeling the power coming from such amazing performances are two very different feelings.
This is the first non/post-Twilight role I’ve seen Rob Pattinson take on (not counting Harry Potter). I didn’t see ‘How To Be’ and had no interest in seeing ‘Little Ashes’. Its not that I’m not a Rob fan, just wasn’t going out of my way to see those films. In fact up until I saw the ‘Remember Me’ trailer, I wasn’t 100% for sure I was going to see this film.
Seeing Rob outside of his ‘Edward Cullen’ role gave me a true since of this acting ability, his performance while brooding had a real eliminate to it, and the chemistry he had with Emily De Ravin was very fitting.
Giving an understated performance was Pierce Brosnan with the thick Brooklyn accent whose vibes can be very mis-leading.
Then there is the ending, if you do the mental math at the beginning you will know that this takes place in 2001, and I’m sure only one major event sticks out in your mind when you think of New York City and 2001… September 11!
Yes, they went there.
Now, I’m a transplant New Yorker, so I wasn’t in the city when that event took place, but I still remember everything about what happened that day.
The way they approach the subject was tasteful, there are no images of planes or terror, just how it effects the characters of the movie.
Like I said, I knew it was going to happen, but to actually see how each of the characters deal with the events of the day, well I did cry (just to note, this is the 3rd time I’ve cried because of Rob Pattinson in a movie so that RPatz).
Even if your not a huge Pattinson fan, I encourage you to still see the film, the story is very good and the performances by all characters are amazing.
