David Slade Thanks Twilight Fans
‘Eclipse’ director David Slade has issued a Thank You to all Twilight Fans via the Twilight Facebook Page:
When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.
When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.
Eclipse Hits the Quarter Billion Mark
In four days ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ has manged to hit $261 million dollars worldwide!!!
Domestically ‘Eclipse’ has generated an estimated $161 million since it opened on 6/30, and is estimated to hit at least $181 million by the end of the holiday weekend.
If further estimates hold, the film will bring in $89 million during 3 day holiday weekend which will put it as the #1 movie opening over the 4th of July holiday, beating ‘Spider Man 2′.
‘Eclipse’ has also grossed $100.2 million if over 42 foreign markets.
MTV Movie Awards Recap – New Moon Sweeps the Night
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards have come to close and once again ‘The Twilight Saga’ swept the awards taking home an award in all categories they were nominated in Best Kiss (Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson), Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), Best Male Performance (Robert Pattinson), and Best Movie. Robert Pattinson also took home Biggest Global Superstar award.
Avatar was the big loser of the night by not taking home a single award. They lost Best Fight to Beyonce & Ali Larter for “Obsessed”, Best Villain went to Tom Felton for ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’, and Best Kiss, Female Performance and Movie all went to ‘New Moon’.
The Hangover took home two awards Best WTF Moment went to Ken Jeong and best comedic performance went Zack Galifianakis. Best Breakout Performance when to Anna Kendrick for her role in ‘Up in the Air’, Anna also stars as Jessica in The Twilight Saga movies. The most “huh” award had to be Biggest Bad-Ass Star went to Rain, the most common question on Twitter was “Who the hell is Rain?”.
Aziz Ansari was the host for the evening he had his moments like the opening monologue which was pretty Twilight heavy, other then that it was pretty lackluster. The scene stealer of the night went to Tom Cruise as mega producer Les Grossman who was featured in several promos for the awards and then opened the show with a video that featured Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lauter in “Bad-Ass Cops” (Rob with the porno stach was pretty damn funny), Will & Jayden Smith with Jayden beating the crap out of Grossman and Michael Cera (clip at the end of this post). Cruise/Grossman then did a special dance performance with Ludicris and J Lo. When I posed the question on Twitter if Les Grossman should have hosted instead, the answer I got was yes.
This year Sandra Bullock was presented with the MTV Generation Award and I can’t think of anyone most deserving. Sandra appeared in person to accept the award and this marked her first public appearance since she won the Oscar for her role in ‘The Blind Side’ and her split with Jesse James.
Some major movies premiered exclusive clips during the show including ‘The Last Airbender’, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Pt 1, and ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’. The later 2 (Potter & Eclipse) both looked amazing.
Overall the night was filled with lots of stars plugging their upcoming films, making “Twilight” related jokes/mentions (Russell Brand & Jonah Hill’s Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate), awkward speeches (anything Kristen Stewart said) and LOTS of what are sure to be FCC fines with the amount of F Bombs that were missed by the censors!! In fact Peter Facinelli got away with 3 un-censored F**K(ing) in less then a minute.
